Research Institute for Raw Materials and Beverage Analysis (FIRGA)

Research and comprehensive instrumental analysis of beer, beverages, spirits, hops, malted and unmalted barley and other cereal types.

The VLB's Research Institute for Raw Materials and Beverage Analysis (FIRGA) was born in the summer of 2022 with the merger between Research Institutes for Raw Materials and Beer and Beverage Analysis.

FIRGA supports customers from the brewing, beverage and spirits industries with commercial and sensory analysis. If required, our services also include testing concerning labelling and conformity.

FIRGA offers a wide range of analyses of raw materials for the production of beer, spirits and non-alcoholic beverages. The focus of these analyses is on hops, malted and unmalted barley and other cereal types.

In the field of malting barley breeding, we are happy to support breeders by malting their breeds on a pilot scale and determining the resulting malt quality.
