Versuchs- und Lehranstalt für Brauerei in Berlin (VLB) e.V.

The Versuchs- und Lehranstalt für Brauerei in Berlin e.V. is a registered association that was founded in 1883 by the brewing and malting industry in Berlin.

The purpose of the association is to promote science and vocational training in the field of brewing, the beverage industry and biotechnology. The purpose of the statutes is realized in particular through the implementation of research projects and scientific events open to the general public. Furthermore, through the operation of teaching facilities for the implementation of educational measures in the field of brewing, the beverage industry and biotechnology for anyone interested who fulfills the professional requirements. In addition, the VLB also offers services such as analysis, consulting and development. Around 135 people are currently employed at the VLB.

The VLB is an independent institute, but has close long-term ties with the Technische Universität Berlin through cooperation agreements in the area of education and research in brewing science.

Since 2002, the VLB has been the sole operator of the Institut fuer Gaerungsgewerbe und Biotechnologie zu Berlin, IfGB (Institute for Fermentation and Biotechnology in Berlin), which was founded in 1874.
