With lectures, posters and stands, VLB experts are present at the two upcoming brewery events in the USA and Slovenia. In the context of the Craft Brewers Conference, the next VLB International Alumni Gathering will take place also in Washington DC.
18 high-profile lectures, a successful supporting program as well as a visit to the new Paulaner Brewery – that is the brief summary of the recent VLB Spring Meeting from 6 to 8 March 2017. The event at the Munich Sheraton Hotel attracted 380 participants from 34 countries and 5 continents.
For the first time in November 2017, the Craft Beer Italy will be held in Milan. The combination of exhibition and conference for Italian craft and home brewers will take place annually in Italy from spring 2019 onwards.
On 1 January 2017, VLB Berlin merged its Biological Laboratory with its Department of Bioprocess Engineering and Applied Microbiology. This provides members and customers of the VLB with a bundled pool of microbiological knowledge and services based on a wealth of experience of more than 100 years.
After the current Head of the VLB Research Institute for Raw Materials (FIR), Prof. Dr. Frank Rath, announced his retirement for the end of 2017 this summer, the succession has now been resolved. Henrike Vorwerk, research associate at the FIR since 2009, will take over the leadership of the institute in 2018.
The General Meeting of VLB Berlin was held in Berlin on October 24, 2016. In addition to the presentation of annual financial statement 2015, which reported a surplus of € 271,000, an election to the Administrative Board was on the agenda. The meeting was chaired by the VLB President Ulrich Rust.
